Check out our guest blogger Courtney Smith's style blog from Electric Picnic 2010
Being the official style blogger for Awear at Electric Picnic was AMAZING…however needless to say I wasn’t overly impressed with the majority of the style and the job was a little tougher than expected! As I had feared, the majority of girls conformed to their Kate Moss look (don’t get me wrong I think they all looked great). But it would make for a pretty boring blog if I had come home with all pictures of girls wearing denim hotpants and rocker t-shirts with wellies! Only the true fashionistas still shone even with the temperamental weather, a little bit of rain didn’t stop our style stars from donning their best looks and taking to the fields to enjoy the atmosphere! From hippy chick and vintage queen to everything inbetween… here’s my pick of the best at EP.
Jenny Donnolly from Castlenock was just chilling under a tree soaking in the atmosphere with friends when I spotted her bang-on-trend faux fur leopard print coat. Upon closer inspection I realised she was successfully donning one of the summers hottest and most difficult trends by clashing prints, her boho style maxi dress teamed with wellies and her fluorescent fun face-paints made her hippy chick look a coveted one. Actually Awear have a coat just like this one coming into their Winter collection – so you too can be a Sixties kitten!
The ever stylish Blanaid Hennessy looked effortlessly cool in what can only be described as true individualism, Yes she is wearing denim shorts… but she manufactured these babies herself from a pair of mens jeans. The majority of her outfits, including all the trinket accessories are from a variety of charity and thrift stores. My favourite piece has to be the geek chic glasses and washing woman style scarf headband… style star.
Una Barrett from Meath looks perfectly bohemian with her hat and dress both sourced from overseas on a visit to Australia, this is a comfortable yet chic look that would suit most girl’s figures and get them noticed in a crowd. I love the embroidery detailing on the dress, which makes it a little more special!
Aisling Murphy was in the body and soul tent and initially it was her flamboyant leopard coat that caught my eye. Her entire outfit was sourced in vintage and thrift stores in New York, which is obviously why she stood out from the crowd, her clash of textures, colours and styles kept the look interesting and individual!
